Go Big Red

Ok, I know we lost -- but it wasn't for a lack of spirit from this family! Just because I think we were cursed by having the Colorado pic up this week, I have to change it to a family Husker one! Here's the fam showing our school spirit...we tried to cheer!

Happy Birthday Justin

Okay, apparently if you buy it, Will will wear it! :) I can't believe I did it, but I actually put my son in Colorado Buffs clothing! Todd's birthday was yesterday and he had a special package from Amber and Justin from Colorado in the mail. They seem to think since he has been spotted in LSU and Nebraska clothing that he needed a little black and gold too. (The only reason the little guy is smiling is because I was singing the Nebraska fight song while taking this picture!)

So since Justin's birthday is today, here is a little gift for him --

Happy Birthday Justin!

Hurricane Ike

First of all -- we're okay!! I know many of you have tried to check on us and have had trouble getting through on the phone, but we're fine! Actually, we've been more than fine -- we only lost power for a few hours and only lost a fence in the backyard.

Things we have found out through the hurricane --

1. Our house's power is on the medical power grid. This means that we will always be the last ones to lose power and the first ones to get it back. This meant that we had power a day or more before anyone else we knew -- which didn't make them very happy with us, but they did come take advantage of our water and power! :)

2. Having no landscaping is good! We have complained since we moved in that we have nothing in our backyard, but right now I am glad! The only thing that happened at our house was our old, needed to be replaced anyway fence fell down. I've never been so glad to not have trees! :)

Apparently 75 mph winds came through our neighborhood during the storm. It didn't sound too bad during the storm and when we looked at our yard we thought maybe we were spared any major damage out here. But then we drove around the neighborhood and saw things like this ---

Did I mention that mom, grandma, and Jess were here for the storm? They flew into town Thursday night and we here to weather the weekend with us. It didn't bother them in the least -- we played lots of Scrabble, cards, and dominoes...not much different than a weekend out in Farnam! Even Will got into the game a few times...

Overall we are very, very lucky. Many of the stores are still closed and all the grocery stores and gas stations are packed and a little crazy, but each day things start to go back to normal a little more. So far we are out of school thru Wednesday and are hearing we may be out all week due to major damage to some of our schools.

Thank you to all of you that have been checking on us through email or phone calls. The phone service has been a little touch and go, but it is also getting better. We love and miss all of you!

4 months old!

Our little man is 4 months old! Of course this means that we had to go get shots again...but it actually went pretty well. He let out one big wail when it happened and then he just whimpered until he fell asleep when we hit the car. Much better than last time!

Will is almost 16 pounds and 24 inches long now! His weight is in the 75th percentile and his length is 80-85th percentile. Staying right one track with where he has been since birth -- if he's anything, he's consistent! :)

August

Football season!

We are ready for some football in this house!

Saturday morning, we had to support Uncle Chris by rooting for the Tigers. Of course we had to be decked out in our LSU gear that he bought us! The sign was compliments of mom...

In typical LSU style, Will drank during the game and then ate at half time! He had his first try at some cereal...

But I think he liked eating his bib better than the cereal...

And then in the afternoon, we had to get ready for the BIG game...well, at least in this house!

We actually had to go to a friend's house to see the game because it was on pay per view and our cable company didn't have it...which probably means they won't be our company for much longer! :) But Will sat with his dad and watched the game like a good little Husker!
